Moroccan Ablution Bowl (Qdah)
An early 20th century terracotta ablution bowl from the Zagora region of Southern Morocco.
The bowl features a deep basin with two functional loop handles. Its exterior is decorated arch lines which meant as evocations of the Meharb, an arcade shaped niche in the walls of a mosque.
Historically used for ritual washing and domestic needs, the terracotta displays an organic patina, surface abrasions, and firing variations characteristic of rural pottery of this kind.
Part of our Heirloom collection.
