Meknes oil lamp (Q'andil) 19th century
Dark emerald green oil lamp from the imperial city of Meknes.
The lamp has a traditional Ismlamic form with a pinched nozzle at the top and a thick rounded handle leading down to a circular drip pan at the base. The glaze shows a wonderful patina and some signs of wear consistent with age and use.
Although the exact age of this piece is unknown, the wear and patina seem to suggeest that the item dates back to the late 19th century.
